The location of Ankarafantsika National Park is near Andranofasika. It is a city in the Boeny Region of the African state of Madagascar.

This park is 115 kilometers north of Majunga, the closest city. Ankarafantsika region has a greatly tropical climate.

The people of the Sakalava group are the predominant ethnic community living and farming here. The great big-footed mouse lives in this fantastic park.

It is not available anywhere else, without any doubt. This park is between the Betsiboka to the west and the Mahajamba River to the east.

Two parks were on either side of Route 4 National Road. In 2002, they combined. The park occupies about 135,000 hectares.

It consists of patches of thick, dry tropical forest. Scattered throughout are areas with less density. There are also scrub, savannah, and sandy eroded rock areas.

The indigenous Sakalava people farm some land. There are many mentionable lakes. Many tracks and paths crisscrossed this beautiful park. Lodging facilities are available on-site.

Many guides are available to help visitors appreciate the wildlife and scenery. Ankarafantsika National Park is mostly woodland. It contains tree species typical of dry tropical forests.

Over 800 species are present, many of them found only in Madagascar. Notable examples include the flowering bush mpanjakabenitany.

Katrafay is also usable in traditional medicine. It also includes the small tree lohavato. It also has sakoanala, a large tree with conspicuous flowers.

Madagascar has a rich variety of native wildlife. It has ten amphibian and 44 reptile species. Notable species include the rare Madagascan big-headed turtle.

There are also a rhinoceros chameleon and a dwarf chameleon available. The island is home to two ground-dwelling boa constrictor snakes.

They are Acrantophis madagascariensis and Sanzinia madagascariensis. It is also home to the rare terrestrial snake Liophidium therezieni.

Mammals include eight species of lemur. Two are mouse lemurs, the world’s smallest primates. The big-footed mouse is a recently described small rodent.

Only the people who are in the park and its vicinity know it. Researchers have recorded one hundred and twenty-nine bird species in the park.

Only in Madagascar are more than half of them found. They include the Van Dam’s vanga and the rufous vanga. They also include the elusive banded kestrel.

The Madagascar fish eagle is more easily observable. You can see the endangered Madagascar heron at Lake Ravelobe.

You can take boat tours of the sacred Lake Ravelobe. Also, you can visit a nearby Lavaka. Plus, you can interact with the local Sakalava culture.

A journey through the forest offers fantastic chances to see local species in the region. These include the golden-brown mouse lemur, Schlegel’s asity, and Van Dam’s vanga.

Most lemurs are readily visible on trails near the park office at Ampijora. The trees surrounding the parking lot are home to many species that bounce across them.

The Lavaka tour can offer you an impressive, luminescent erosion scar. It has varying shades of red, yellow, and white. It provides a fantastic opportunity to see more bird species.

Fossa

This animal is the largest carnivore and top predator native to the African state of Madagascar. It is similar to felines, although it has a relation to the mongoose.

It grows up to 6 feet long from nose to tail tip and weighs up to 26 pounds. It is famous for feeding on lemurs and many other creatures, from wild pigs to mice.

This site is one of the last spots to find the fossa in its natural habitat. It can give some fantastic experiences to enjoy on this site in Madagascar.
